ST5 is a rice variety grown in the Mekong Delta, most notably in Tran De District, Soc Trang Province with a growth period of about 115-120 days.
ST5 rice has long and thin grain with translucent white, no silver, protein-rich rice is often only half. ST5, when cooked, has a mild aroma, the rice is sweet, supple, the fragrance stays and does not dry out.
ST5 rice is grown in 3 crops a year (February to April - Winter Spring, June to August - Summer Autumn and November to December – Autumn Winter).
The rice growing areas include Soc Trang, Bac Lieu and several other provinces in the Mekong Delta.
